Well, it has been too long my friends and family. I said I was back then I took a hiatus from writing for a few months. I hope you will all agree that we have collectively missed the correspondences as I have. It is with great joy that I announce my new venture as Managing Editor of Southern Culture on the Fly.

Yellowhammer Fly Group LLC Acquires Southern Culture On the Fly LLC:
Yellowhammer Fly Group promises to remain consistent with the old goals of showcasing southern fly fishing, as well as taking readers to comical new heights
Gadsden, AL, 11/3/2022. For eleven years the guys at Southern Culture on the Fly, and their many contributors of art and story from all 44 issues, ensorcelled readers with fart jokes and stunning photography about fly fishing in the Southeastern states. Now Yellowhammer Fly Group, a limited liability corporation of four SCOF readers interested in the continuation of southern based fly fishing short form journalism, has acquired Southern Culture on the Fly LLC. The move to acquire SCOF first started in the mind of John Agricola when he discerned an opportunity to gain the platform, rather than allowing David Grossman and Steven Seinberg to shut the doors to their creative enterprise forever. Agricola viewed SCOF as too important to fly fishing as a movement for degenerate and masochistic anglers nationwide. In the interest of saving the magazine and all that fly merchandise, Agricola reached out to three friends and they began toying with the idea of ownership since the “penultimate issue” #44 dropped. Since Dave Grossman and Steve Seinberg accepted the Yellowhammer offer, the process has taken about a month. The deal was signed on November 3rd, 2022.
“You guys were the only ones we would have sold to; I mean Donald Trump Jr wanted it, but we liked y'all way better” Grossman said to Agricola after the deal concluded. Agricola pressed Grossman about a podcast from years ago where he disavowed the ability of anyone to take SCOF over, and in a complimentary moment he referred to Yellowhammer as that “unicorn deal” that just works better than what he could have fathomed years ago in terms of a creative transition.
The acquisition fits into SCOF”s strategy for showcasing southern environs through fly fishing media efforts for many years to come. The yellowhammer team includes John Agricola(Editor), Sam Bailey (Advertising and Marketing Director), Hank Hershey (Creative Director and Chief of Design), and Michael Steinberg (Editor at Large). The original SCOF team of Dave Grossman and Steve Seinberg will work to create a final November issue, and then the new SCOF team will create a February winter issue. Grossman and Seinberg are staying on in an advisory capacity. Please go check out the website. It should be an exciting new adventure.
